The oral-B professional care smart series 5000 is an excellent purchase for anyone that wants to get an electric toothbrush. It is simple to use and it does all of the hard work for you and leaves you with that clean feel you get from a visit to the dentist / hygienist.
The brush comes with several different brushing modes that pulse when you are using it. Between each pulse duration (default: 30 seconds) the head will change direction so it brushes the other way meaning it gets into every crevice between teeth leaving that clean feel. Changing the mode is a simple press of the triangle button on top.
The brush itself has a battery level indicator that will flash when the brush is getting low and it comes with a portable charger so you dont need to worry about batteries. It also comes with an portable LCD display and timer module that will show you how long you have been brushing for. If you reach the recommended 2 minutes of brushing then the display shows a smiley to show you have done a good job - so its great for kids too!
The unit will also show a red light if you are pressing the device too hard which will help those with bleeding gums are sensitive teeth and it is very accurate even at low battery levels. The speed of the head is noticeably slower when the battery light is flashing but it is still useable and does a good job - be sure to charge afterwards however.
The heads last for a couple of months each and you can replace them through multi-packs which arent too expensive. They are very gentle on your teeth and gums yet Oral-b state it will 'remove 99.7% of plaque in hard to each areas' - it certainly feels like it does once you have used it. You can also buy different heads such as 'polishing' and 'whitening'.
This Oral-B electric toothbrush is one of the best you can get and it wont leave you with a huge dent in your wallet.
