Its time to invest in your first electric toothbrush

Toothbrushes comes in many different shapes and sizes and it can be confusing to know which one is the best for you. For example, latest manual toothbrush models have handles that are straight, round, flat, curved, angled or contoured and some also have a head that will flex with pressure. All of them are set to clean your teeth better than the others so its hard to know which one is the best for you.

However, you can do away with all of these endless features and confusion by investing in your first electric toothbrush. If you invest in a leading brand, which needn't be expensive, you will usually find the brush has been made for optimum performance and deep cleaning. While some come with external units and a variety of features, the primary task is to get your teeth clean.

One of the more common problem with brushing is that most people do not brush their teeth for long enough and at times will only give a quick once-over for 30 seconds or so. Dentists recommend that you brush for a full 2 minutes. This is a built in feature of some, such as an Oral B electric toothbrush and they will pulsate or visually indicate that you have been brushing for the full duration.

Not only that but many will also come with dual cleaning features. This is either done with a head that can rotate in both directions, aided by the user guiding it around their teeth and gumline or from the type of bristles in the head; some will contain more than one type of bristle to make sure every part or your mouth is cleaned thoroughly.

Make sure to check that the model you are interested in also comes with a rechargeable battery pack. The majority will do and it means you do not need to worry about it running out and buying new batteries for it. Typically, when brushing for the above recommended duration you will most likely find that is lasts for 1 - 4 weeks in between charges although you can keep it charged all the time if you prefer.

Finally, since you can get replacement heads for most of them, you only need to pay for the unit once. You can also get different styles of head for the unit such as whitening and polishing, so you can have a fully clean mouth each and every day.

Most dentists will recommend you use an electric toothbrush nowadays and its hard to argue with them.
